Business Process Modelling
Submodels of Business Process Modelling
Business process modelling is one of the ways that a particular type of graphical communication is used to get information to a variety of people with different learning styles and business thought processes. Also known as BPMN, business process modelling is an excellent way to allow viewers of different levels of understanding become fully engaged in the process at hand. There are three main submodels of BPMN.
The first submodel of BPMN is called private business processes. These models are specific to a particular company and considered private. Typically set up like a workflow chart it will allow employees of all kinds to understand the business in a way they are familiar with, since it will involve their own products and own business models.
The second submodel of BPMN is called abstract or public models. This model shows the relationship between a private process and another process that is probably more public. This type of model is usually a hybrid of a private and collaboration model, which is the third example of a BPMN submodel.
The collaboration processes of business process modelling will show the entire interaction process of two or more entities who are engaged in business together. These interactions will be displayed as a series of activities that will represent certain patterns known to all involved. This type of modelling may be passed along to different businesses or shared in a public arena.
Within these three main submodels, there are many types of diagrams used. In order to fully understand the invaluable knowledge of BPMN it is recommended to take a professional level training course.
