PRINCE2 Accreditation

How to Get PRINCE2 Accreditation

Projects in controlled environments 2, also known as PRINCE2, is a project management method that is based on seven principles and processes. The methodology of PRINCE2 combines the control, management and organisation of a project. In order to become an authorised practitioner in these methods, you must get PRINCE2 accreditation.

In order to get PRINCE2 accreditation, you must pass two exams. The Foundation exam for accreditation consists of a multiple choice exam that lasts one hour. The Practitioner exam is two and a half hours and is an essay based exam. These exams are known to be difficult and though you can self study, it is highly recommended that you take an official training course before taking any test for PRINCE2 accreditation.  Once you are successful and you are an accredited practitioner of PRINCE2, you must re-certify every five years, but only have to take the Practitioner exam of multiple choice questions, not the essay portion.

The training courses available typically take about two days and this may be something that your company will pay for as an investment in you. It can be very beneficial to a company to have someone with knowledge of PRINCE2 on their staff. In addition to preparing you to take the exams for PRINCE2 you will learn a variety of project management skills, project initiation skills and the information you need to establish control of your projects. If you are interested in learning more about getting accreditation for PRINCE2, it is suggested you research professional training courses in your area.
